August 16th

So today was the last morning meeting. It was kind of short, Joe just asked for some feedback on the summer. Emily and I continued to work on Roger's data, once again the C73 images. I ran PCA, ICA and SAM on the images and just tried to make the undertext more visible. Nothing really jumped out today. Emily and I watched Ashley and Peter present, as well as Aditi and we helped give them some feedback and small changes to make.

This morning we went to the auditorium and we all ran through our presentations and received questions and feedback. That lasted until noon, so then Emily and I went back to running images in envi. We resumed our processing of Roger's data, specifically the C73 images. I ran ICA, PCA and SAM on all the images but there are still more so I will continue them tomorrow.

The morning meeting was normal. Emily and I started working on all of the changes we needed to make to our presentation. We found Dave and he worked with us to get some good diagrams and examples to put in. When we finished putting the presentation together we asked Matt to set us up in the auditorium so we could do another practice before tomorrow. It ended up making it past the 15 minutes and we thought it went pretty smoothly. We make a few critiques after seeing it up on the projector but other than that it was good. The rest of the day we worked on the new data that Roger gave us and we put all of our results together to give to Todd.

The morning meeting was really short, and Matt just gave us the schedule for the presentations. I started the day working with Roger's data. I ran SAM, PCA and ICA for the Ambrosiana_C73 images 8,9 and 10, collecting both gray scale and false color images. Then we had a presentation run through with Matt and Joe. They gave us some changes to make to the presentation and told us what to explain in more depth. Then I worked on the new data that Dave gave us and tried to find anything interesting on those.

At the morning meeting we went over some of what the interns wrote in their blogs, and we explained our video chat with Bob yesterday. Then I looked back at the Selden map with the big green blotch in the middle of the ocean and the large land correction on the lower right side of the map. After that I went back to some of Roger's data. I made image cubes for Ambrosiana_C73inf for images 5,6,7 and 8. I ran PCA, SAM, and ICA for all of them to try and pull out more of the undertext. When we were finishing up for the day we gave Roger all of the data that we had collected today so that he could send them.

August 9th

At the morning meeting today we went around the table and everybody had to give an update on their project. Emily and I first looked at our presentation. Matt helped us set it up in the auditorium and listed to us do a practice run through. He gave us some really good comments that went back and made the changes. After that I started working on some of the new data Dave gave us. At 1 pm Emily and I headed to Dave's office with Di and we had a video chat with Bob/Robert. It was very interesting and we went over our findings so far with him. That was fun so then we headed back to the reading room and started working on some of the specific locations on the map he wanted some more information on.

August 8th

At the morning meeting this morning David Lewis came in and showed us the camera he made at his internship. Then Emily and I began working on the presentation- finalizing our draft and then breaking up who was saying what. Then we ran our presentation in front of David Lewis and Matt, and they gave us some feedback. Then we went through our presentation with Dave and Roger and they gave us some things to add or change. So then I worked on making the changes to the presentation and making an inverse of the large SAM map for our presentation.

August 7th

At the morning meeting we finished all of the intern outlines. Then Emily and I began looking at our presentation again to cut it down because it was way too big. Dave and Roger came in and gave us some suggestions of what to change and what to get rid of. Then we finally emailed Bob to set up a time to talk with him. I worked on the presentation for a while and then took a break and worked on the new data Dave gave us today. It took a long time but by the end of the day we got it to just over 30 slides.

August 4th

At the morning meeting Emily explained to the group our outline and we got some comments. The focus today was to download new data which took a long time. So I focus on the presentation and starting the second half of it. Matt helped us a lot, figuring out how to turn the tif into jpg and which application to use. Emily and I picked all of the good results that we wanted to include in our presentation. Once I turned all of them into jpgs I put them all into the presentation, cropped them and started to label them.

August 3rd

We went over two more peoples' abstracts this morning. Since I had finished all of the cubes yesterday, I could focus in the images. Then Emily and I began running PCA and SAM on the new C73 data. Creating single band gray images and false color overlays. That got some interesting results and I made sure to organize all of them so I know where they are and remember how I got them. At the end of the day Emily and I began to look at our presentation again. Focusing on cutting it down and creating the second section.

August 2nd

Today at the morning meeting we went over some two of the interns' outlines and made some comments. Then Emily caught me up on what to focus on next. We gave all of the data we have collected so far to Roger. Then I began making image cubes for all of the new data which took a really long time. Then I began running PCA and SAM on the image to try and pull out the under text.
